Day 1 – 2: Mareetsane & Mafikeng Reserve

Your 8-day adventure begins at the Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria. Upon arrival, you and the other guests will each receive a field protocol presentation. From there, you will head to your first two destinations, Mareetsane and Kameel, where you will spend two full days of African game bird hunting in the bushveld.

Non-hunters will spend their time at the Mafikeng Reserve, where they will enjoy safari game drives. The Reserve has around 2,000 game bird species, which are easy to spot due to the game reserve’s terrain being flat.

Day 3: Kameel

Your corporate hunting trips journey does not end there! On day three, you and your group will spend the day African game bird hunting in Kameel in the North West Province’s western region. Take in the breathtaking views and share stories over lunch served in this area.

There are also many activities for non-hunters to enjoy, including:

  • Safari game drives
  • Visiting Anglo-Boer war sites
  • Exploring archeological discoveries in the area
  • Viewing wild animals

Day 4: Warrenton

It’s a jam-packed day full of activities on day 4! Hunters will spend the day hunting in the wild in Warrenton, where lunch is served. For non-hunters, expect your day to be full of sight-seeing adventures!

The non-hunters itinerary includes:

  • Exploring diamond fields 61 kilometers north of Kimberly
  • Visit and immerse yourself in the historical McGregor Museum
  • Enjoy lunch at the Protea Hotel
  • Admire artwork at the cultural William Humphrey’s Gallery

Day 5 – 6: Explore Kimberly

On day 5, everyone gets to spend time exploring the rich cultural heritage in Kimberly. Your day will start by visiting The Diamond Mine Museum, which was discovered in 1871. Your next stop will be the majestic Big Hole, one of the world’s most giant holes excavated by hands, which Kimberly is most famous for. Wintershoek is next on the agenda, where you can enjoy taking in the sights.

Lunch is at the spectacular Kimberly Club, so enjoy some downtime and relax with a local beer or wine with your meal.

Your South African Rovos bird hunting train hunt trip is not over until you experience a traditional barbeque known as a braai by South Africans. Enjoy the South African traditional cuisine under the stars and spend time mingling with other guests around the fire.

Day 6 is action-packed for gamebird shooters, who will go out into the wild and enjoy their hunting activities. Non-hunters will travel about 50 kilometers northwest of Kimberly to Mattanu Private Game Reserve for a safari game drive.

Day 7: Kloofein

Day 7 is the last day to enjoy African game bird hunting before returning to the Rovos Rail Station. Rovos bird hunting will take place in Kloofeind, an area in Bloemfontein.

For the non-hunting guests, explore the historical monuments in Bloemfontein and take a step back into history by visiting the Anglo-Boer War Museum.

Unwind with the other guests and enjoy a delicious dinner at Emoya. After lunch, non-hunters will have an out-of-world experience coming face to face with cheetahs at a breeding facility. This close interaction experience will leave you feeling breathless and will be a conversation starter for years to come!

Day 8: Return to Rovos Rail Station

This may be the end of your corporate hunting trips experience, but not without a mouthwatering breakfast! After breakfast, the train will arrive at the Rovos Railway Station in Pretoria, and guests can return home from the adventure of a lifetime!
